As a continuation of 2023 The D.E.I.A. Symposium, which sought to spark diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across campus, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion presents a series of sessions that feature students, staff, and faculty who submitted symposium proposals on various D.E.I.A. topics. Lunch will be served. Registration for each session is required.

Alcohol misuse is a significant public health problem among college students. Importantly, college students of different racial and ethnic groups report different patterns of alcohol misuse. Multiracial (more than one race and ethnicity) college students may be an at-risk racial group as they report the highest rates of past-year alcohol consumption and alcohol use disorder compared to other racial and ethnic college students. However, factors that contribute to Multiracial college students’ alcohol misuse are understudied. This workshop will explore the findings from a thesis project, which explored the association of discrimination with alcohol misuse among Multiracial college students.  These findings highlight that Multiracial discrimination may be a risk factor contributing to alcohol misuse among Multiracial college students.
