At this public lecture, Elizabeth Otto will present her current research and book project on “Bauhaus Under Nazism: Designers and the Holocaust,” which will also open in summer 2024 as an exhibition that she co-curated at the Bauhaus Museum in Weimar, Germany. Otto’s research “illustrates the diverse ways in which artists dealt with a totalitarian system of rule” and “presents a new, often uncomfortable history of the Bauhaus and its legacies.” Otto’s work has the potential to create a paradigmatic shift in how the Bauhaus is perceived.
