The National Science Foundation’s Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) are among the premier materials research programs in the country. To start developing ideas for a potential MRSEC proposal from Syracuse University in spring 2022, the BioInspired Institute is organizing several brainstorming meetings. These are organized around themes that could possibly lead to Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) that anchor the MRSEC.

This meeting is devoted to brainstorming ideas around Advanced Manufacturing that fits with strengths at Syracuse University. These could be clean-room free manufacturing, materials under extreme conditions, and modeling and theory of processes that affect manufacturing. This session will be facilitated by Pranav Soman (Biomedical and Chemical Engineering) and Christian Santangelo (Physics).
